Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell works as a journalist at NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has a BA degree in English from the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell joined KYW Radio and TV as the Philadelphia reporter in 1967. In 1976 she joined the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV. (then WTOP in Washington DC). Then she joined NBC News Washington two years following that as an general reporter. 1980 began her coverage of the White House. 1988 became the principal journalist for Congress. She was named Chief White House correspondent in 1992 and chief foreign affairs correspondent for NBC News in 1994. Mitchell is a regular in the TV news show Meet the Press as a panelist and host. She participated as a member of the panel at 1988 Presidential Debates between George Bush, and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the spouse of Alan Greenspan who was former chairman at Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has been awarded her Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in the John F. Kennedy School of Government. In 2004 the Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA) recognized Mitchell for her work in defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell reported on the White House first for NBC News between 1981 and 1988, during Ronald Reagan's two terms as president. Mitchell reported on many noteworthy stories such as arm control, the budget tax and the Iran Contra scandal. She also traveled to many summits with the help of the President Reagan together with Mikhail Gorbachev.
